What did friendships mean to you, growing up? And what do friends mean to you now? 🤔 When I think back on my childhood, friendships meant everything to me and after all those years, they still do. 💜
For most of my childhood, I was fortunate to have a best friend by my side with whom I would share my worries, sillyness, laughter and quiet moments. We had each other’s back and we showed up for each other. We would make up our own secret language and created our own little bubble, or universe, depending on how you look at it. I am sure we were super annoying to others.😂 Together, hard times seemed a bit easier to handle and fun times were a lot more fun. 👭
So, you might be wondering where I am going with this? 🤓 Well, in yoga we show up on our mat, just like we show up for our friends. And by building a connection with yourself through yoga, it seems to become easier to connect with others, as well. Yoga can help children build on existing friendships and create new ones. This is usually not mentioned and possibly not even seen as a benefit of kids yoga, but I see so much value in it and it is an important part of my dream for the Younger Yoga community. 💕🌱
Whilst writing all this, I was thinking about my best friend who lives far away and other friends that I haven’t connected with as much lately. You see, at times I don’t feel like a good friend at all. 🙄 But then, right in the middle of all this self-doubt, one of my best friends reached out, she showed up. ☄Special timing, hey?
I feel grateful for all my old and new friends. 🙏 You continue to inspire and support me, you keep me on my toes and make me laugh. I hope our friendships will continue to grow. 🌱 💕
