Pom pom breathing

Pom pom breathing…..have you heard of this before? The Younger Yogi’s had lots of fun with it this week in class. ๐Ÿ˜

Using big belly breaths, the kids tried to move their pom pom from one end of the yoga mat to the other. ๐Ÿ˜Š Experimenting with different colours and sizes and having a little challenge, all just added more fun to this simple belly breathing exercise.

Deep belly breathing has so many benefits. It:
๐ŸŒฑ reduces stress and anxiety
๐ŸŒฑ strengthens our ability to focus
๐ŸŒฑ brings us into the present moment
๐ŸŒฑ lowers our heart rate
๐ŸŒฑ increases the level of oxygen in our body

And with some simple props, it’s lots of fun, too! ๐Ÿ˜„ Breath awareness is an essential part of yoga. ๐Ÿง˜ The younger we can teach our children breath awareness, the more natural it will be for them to use this when they encounter stressful situations growing up. ๐Ÿ™

If you happen to have a few pom poms ๐Ÿคน laying around, you could give it a go, too (with or without kids ๐Ÿ˜‚).
